How to Decide… Dog Collar or Dog Harness?

How to Decide… Dog Collar or Dog Harness?
There is a lot to consider when choosing between a dog collar or harness. I remember being unsure which to choose for Mia. There are many factors to consider. Here are several issues to help you in your decision making:
• It is strongly recommended that any dog with a respiratory problem should wear a dog harness. Due to dog collars placing too much pressure on a dog’s throat and airway, it can do more harm then good.
• One must not forget that small dogs like Shih Tzu’s, Chihuahuas, Yorkies and Pomeranians are fragile and have delicate necks. Therefore, if you have a small dog, a soft harness is recommended. This prevents the risk of damage to their small organs.
• It is recommended for dogs that like to pull wear a harness. Again, it’s a question of protecting your dog’s health. Pulling on a collar may bring about coughing, wheezing or even cause permanent damage.

• Both dog collars and dog harnesses come in a variety of materials, colors and designs. There are plenty of choices so you can find something to fit your taste, budget and your dog’s personality.
Standard collars are easy to put on your dog, but if not sized correctly can allow your dog to escape.

Harnesses can be difficult to put on your dog, particularly if the dog doesn’t want to wear one. If you do choose to use a harness, pick a style that is easy to put on and take off…while still providing the security you need to control your pet.
This information should allow you to make an informed decision. Safety comes first and appearance comes second.  With so many to choose from, here are links to a variety of dog collars and dog harnesses.  Give yourself peace of mind that your precious pup will not only look good, but will also be comfortable and kept safe.

Just Getting Started

Hi pet lovers, my name is Nicole and Mia is my beautiful, four pawed daughter. She is my little sunshine and my best friend. Since I love to spoil her, as any mother would, it inspired me to open my online dog boutique. www.K9CoutureBoutique.com

The boutique was off to a slow start, and I was quite discouraged. The competition is fierce! However, I am proud of the quality of products and designers that I currently carry.

So - let's talk about dogs...
